The theme of condemnation and judgment

Isaiah, ch. 59

13 rebellion and denial of Yahweh, turning our back on our God, talking violence and revolt, murmuring lies in our heart.

14 Fair judgement is driven away and saving justice stands aloof, for good faith has stumbled in the street and sincerity cannot enter.

15 Good faith has vanished; anyone abstaining from evil is victimised. Yahweh saw this and was displeased that there was no fair judgement.

16 He saw there was no one and wondered there was no one to intervene. So he made his own arm his mainstay, his own saving justice his support.

17 He put on saving justice like a breastplate, on his head the helmet of salvation. He put on the clothes of vengeance like a tunic and wrapped himself in jealousy like a cloak.

18 To each he repays his due, retribution to his enemies, reprisals on his foes, to the coasts and islands he will repay their due.

19 From the west, Yahweh's name will be feared, and from the east, his glory, for he will come like a pent-up stream impelled by the breath of Yahweh.

20 Then for Zion will come a redeemer, for those who stop rebelling in Jacob, declares Yahweh.

21 'For my part, this is my covenant with them, says Yahweh. My spirit with which I endowed you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, will not leave your mouth, or the mouths of your children, or the mouths of your children's children, says Yahweh, henceforth and for ever.'

4th Book of Ezra, 11

36 Then I head a voice, which said to me, Look before you, and consider what you see.

37 And I looked, and behold, a creature like a lion was aroused out of the forest, roaring; and I heard how he uttered with a man's voice to the eagle, and spoke, saying,

38 Hear you, I will speak with you what the Most High YAHWEH shall say to you,

39 Are you not the one that remain of the four beasts, whom I made to reign in MY world, that the end of MY times might come through them?

40 And you the fourth that has come, and has conquered all the beasts that have gone before, and had power over the world with great fearful terror, and over all the earth with much grievous oppression; and for so long as you have dwelt upon the earth with deceit.

41 And you have judged the earth, but not with truth.

42 For you have afflicted the meek, you have injured the peaceable, you have hated those who tell the truth, you have loved liars, and you have destroyed the dwellings of them that brought forth fruit, and have cast down the walls of them as did you no harm.

43 Therefore is your insolent wrongful dealings has come up before the Most High YAHWEH, and your pride before the ALMIGHTY.

44 And the Most High YAHWEH has also looked upon HIS times, and, behold, they are ended, and his ages are completed, and his abominations are fulfilled!

45 Therefore you will surely disappear, you eagle, and your terrifying wings, and your most evil little wings, and your malicious heads, and your most evil talons, and your whole worthless body,

46 So that the whole earth be freed from your violence, and may be refreshed and return, being delivered from your violence, and that she may hope for the judgment and mercy of HIM that made her.

4thBookofEzra, 12

31 And the lion, whom you saw rising up out of the wood, and roaring, and speaking to the eagle, and rebuking her for her unrighteousness with all the words which you have heard;

32 This is the anointed, which the Most High YAHWEH has kept until the end of days, who will arise from the posterity of David, and will come and speak to them; He will denounce them for their checedlessness and for their wickedness, and will cast up before them their contemptuous dealings.

33 For first HE shall set them living before HIS judgment seat, and shall rebuke them, then He will destroy them (First Judgment).

34 For the rest of MY people shall HE deliver with mercy, those that have been pressed upon throughout MY borders, and HE shall make them joyful until the end comes, the day of judgment, whereof I have spoken to you from the beginning (Last Judgment).

Isaiah, ch.3

12 O my people, their oppressors pillage them and extortioners rule over them! O my people, your rulers mislead you and efface the paths you ought to follow!

13 Yahweh has risen to accuse, is standing to pass judgement on the people.

14 Yahweh is about to try the elders and the princes of his people, 'You are the ones who have ravaged the vineyard, the spoils of the poor are in your houses.

15 By what right do you crush my people and grind the faces of the poor?' says the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.
